Gifted

My recent shopping trips over the past week have led me to the conclusion that people get a little CRAZY during the holidays. Really. Parking lots....watch out and don't even think about parking close. Lines at the mall....everyone thinks you're cutting. Need a certain size?...Grab it quick before someone snatches it straight from your hand. Some people just go absolutely nuts, lose hold of who they really are as opposed to the absolutely scrooge-ish person that they are in the stores! I think 90% of the time it is uncalled for and totally avoidable! Really, I know it is a busier season than most, but what's the constant rush and sense of complete urgency about?

People are stressin' about gifts. What to get, how much, where to buy, and on and on and on. It makes them a little crazy.

I have to admit, sometimes, it is tough to buy gifts for people at Christmas because for the most part if someone wants something...they buy it for themselves. As opposed to when you were younger, not able to make any money for yourself and therefore had to put your wishes on a list. Waiting a whole dang year for them was tough, man! (My hardest wait was for an overhead projector one year. Yep...I said overhead projector. And I wanted one, BAD!)

Since gift-giving is one of my top "love languages," I really like to get people things that hold some sort of weight and are really going to mean something to them when they receive it. I guess you could say I like buying 'novelty' type gifts....things they are going to hold on to. I hate to just buy a shirt, check it off the list and move on to the next person just to get it out of the way. I think most can relate to this.

It is not always an easy task giving so much thought to gifts, especially for so many people all at the same time. And not all gifts are going to have a sentimental or absolute uniqueness about them. Some gifts are just simply things that the other person needs. For example socks, underwear or mascara in your stocking (stocking stuffers are my FAVORITE part of Christmas...no lie!). Sometimes these things and completely random gifts that the other person would have never expected are the things people love most!

I think one of the BEST gifts you can give someone is something that person would not typically buy themselves. For women specifically, I think facials/massages/mani-pedi, etc. are things that we will treat ourselves to every now and then....but we'd LOVE to treat ourselves more often. And on someone else's dollar would be even better! ;) Seriously, though, I personally have somewhat of a hard time treating myself to these things that I know are SO relaxing and so good for me. And I bet most moms/sisters/teachers, etc. would feel the same.

I say all of this because my friend, Karen, at Eden Spa, gives the most absolutely-to-die for facials and treatments here in Colleyville. She prepped, pampered and beautified me for my wedding and I just could not say enough great things about her - both as a person and her services. I have told several friends about her over the past few months and they have all come back just raving about how wonderful she is

Right now Karen has a few specials that I thought I would share with you if you are in need of either treating yourself or need a little somethin' somethin' for your loved one's stocking. I recently got a giftcard to her spa and just cannot wait to use it! Here are just a few of her specials this month:

Stocking Stuffers!

I know, I know...am blogging this about a month early, but I found these little treats to be fun and it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if you got some shopping done early this year...would it?! I found most of these goodies in "The Nest" magazine that is sent to me every month since our wedding and love it! (I didn't subscribe and don't pay for it, so I really don't know how I get it! Not complaining so don't tell on me..shhh! :))

How cool are these Coffee Stencils?!
Find here on Etsy or you can also YouTube how to make
them yourself. :)
I thought this Out on a Limb jewelry holder
was so cute!
Why have I never heard of FootzyRolls?! And
why did I not invent them?

For the more dramatic, over sized stocking stuffer,
check out the world's largest gummy bear! It's
the equivalent of 1,400 regular sized treats and packs in
over 12,600 calories! Check out more gifts of this
caliber at Perpetualkid.com :)
Bobble Water Bottles....they're filtered,
BPA free, and so inexpensive. :) Looks like now
they have them for baby, too!

Why is spending money one of the easiest things in the world to do?! :)
